about

On the Verge takes 1.5 seconds from a recent pop song and stretches it out into a 10 minute electronic soundscape.

As part of his Audifiler series, 'On the Verge' continues Cresswell' series of works that are created using small fragments of heavily manipulated samples from preexisting pop songs. Using a variety of digital music programs, including Audacity, SoundHack, GarageBand, Max/MSP, and ProTools he transforms these small fragments into moving, emotional soundscapes. Cresswell's process is influenced by aspects of the mash-up/remix culture, John Cage’s Imaginary Landscapes series, Brian Eno’s ambient work, and John Oswald’s Plunderphonics.

'On the Verge' is the first release on Grizwald Records, a label created specifically to record and release the music of Chris Cresswell
